The Malmö festival,The Island and uni prep

I:Me,mark and Eva ventured out to the festival to watch a band call Devotchka (they kinda sound like Calexico) and we weren't dissapointed, it was mega good!! I never turn down a band with violin, accordian, standing bass and trumpet line up...

Yesterday we felt like going for a walk to the sea, but we decided to walk a different way to the beach. We ended up at this place called "The Island," which i have never been to despite my three years in Malmö...it was good! We can't wait to go back there in the winter when the sea is all rough and scary. On the way there we passed a big concrete factory, two spanish tourists talking about Zlatan, and several nice little harbours. I love Malmö!

Athletics, lasagne,Woody Allen, Gossip Girl, Death On The Ice and Man City

I:

This has been a hectic week, with all the athletics to watch!!

I have basically set our alarm in the morning after the athletics program...

Above: Alyson Felix

We have not only been watching sport,we have also indulged in:
*Annie Hall (Woody Allen)
*Bananas (Woody Allen)
*Everthing you wanted to know about sex,but were too afraid to ask (Woody Allen)
*Lipstick Jungle season 1 (in one night)
*Gossip Girl season 1

As you can see we have had a Woody Allen themed week...we are working our way through his filmography slowly but surely! One of the true highlights of the week was at 16.10 today when I started watching Singin' in the Rain. It was amazing! Kathy might be the good girl with the voice and the moves but it was Lina that caught my eye with her killer fashion moments (fur and more fur!) and platinum blonde hair!! AAAAAAHHH Fashion!

M:

Mum and Emma bought me a book (pics of their visit will be up soon!)...'Death On The Ice, Scott. Antarctica. 1912' at the airport and I have been reading that the last week. It's over 500 pages long, which can sometime be a problem...but it's been so good I've nearly finished it already! It's definitely made me want to read more about the expeditions to the poles. I think I'm going to read more adventure books in the future!

I've watched City play twice this week (online), both times winning 1-0...although the first was against Barcelona and the second Wolves. Adebayour looks like a great buy! 2 goals in 2 games! I've never been so excited about watching them!

Other than that, our new laptop arrived on Wednesday, so I've been on it quite a lot the last few days...updating, downloading etc. I've downloaded Firefox and a cool Safari (Mac) like skin for it. We now also have a Spotify account, which is a welcome addition seen as we don't have my CDs here yet or my external hard drive, although I still love a good download!

I'll try to update the blog with the missing days ASAP...

July 1st-6th: After the Arctic Circle...Stockholm!

On our way to Luleå to catch our flight to Stockholm we stopped off at Gammelstads Kyrkstad (Gammelstad Church Town):

My first moose sighting on the way to Luleå! Although for such a huge animal you can barely see it in this picture! It was also on the wrong side of the fence and many often panic and run into oncoming traffic...which isn't good for car, human or moose.

10km/6mi west of Luleå, on the original site of Luleå, is the "church town" of Gammelstad - a settlement of little wooden houses providing overnight accommodation for churchgoers coming from a distance and for their horses and carts. With almost 500 "church houses" (kyrkstugor), this is the largest church town in Sweden. The church itself, which dates from the 14th century, has a richly decorated interior, with an altar of 1520 from Antwerp. Here too is the Hägnan open-air museum.Gammelstad was selected for the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.

We flew from Luleå to Stockholm following our time in the Arctic Circle and this is what we got up to! We stayed with Johanna for the 5days we were there:

A night out with Johanna, Marcus and Jonna:

The night included tapas, sangria, cross-dressing, a long walk, free clothes and huge taxi bill...followed by some sore heads the following morning!

High Chaparral!

High Chaparral is a wild west style theme park just outside Anderstorp! We went there for Gilbert's (Ida's mum's husband) birthday on the Saturday before we left for Malmö. It attracts loads of hardcore western fans every summer, many of who live there the whole summer and dress up in full cowboy costume. It is also often a favourite meeting point for biker gangs and trucker meets.
